Ateri

"The Gift of Kings has enabled us to live long lives - very long indeed, among the forests."

Two figures in a forest, one with blue hair and the other with pink hair, holding a mask.

Ateri Overview

Among their ancestral sacred words, “Ateri” means ascended. Ancient Ateri were once an elite Class of Humans who developed a magical artifact – the “Gift of Kings” – that allowed them to transcend their instinctual Human nature, becoming ascended elfs (or ascended fey).

Ateri never age, and it is looked down upon in the culture to have children, as they are born Human – not Ateri. In order for children of Ateri to become like their parents, they must go through the same magical ritual as their ancestors.

Ateri do not try to control life, but instead accept what is. They do not put great energy into protecting their people, but allow nature and the newly born Tree of Life to do so for them. Likewise, Ateri do not try to alter nature, but instead alter themselves to best thrive with it.

Because their “ascension” caused an extension of natural lifespan – indefinitely – Ateri also do not fear death or feel anxiety about length of life.

Ateri have fine, brightly colored hair. They are lithe and stand roughly 5ft tall. Though frailer of physique than most other Races, they compensate with their great agility and wisdom.
