Royal Guard
"Every realm has royalty. But I protect who I choose - those who are important to me."

Royal Guard Overview
In the darkest days of desperation known as the "Eternal Wars," near the beginning of the world, it is said that orders of royal guards were established as personal protectors to the Eternals. The world had never before known war, and specialties among combatants were just forming. As assassination attempts became commonplace in those fateful days, royal guards sought to counteract what would otherwise become untold slaughter.
Of course, legends and some historical records claim that those events took place about 4,500-years ago, so knowing if such wild claims are true is difficult to ascertain. However, the idea of the royal guard has certainly always been part of well-recorded history, with every Duke and noble making use of people who specialize in protecting key figures and important items (especially those with rare magical properties).

Royal Guard Play Style
The Royal Guard excels in controlling the battlefield through dazing enemies, and by maneuvering to wherever is needed very quickly and very safely. Ultimately, their power to daze enemies makes them a defensive unit. However, it's also possible to play the Royal Guard as an attacking character, who also benefits from having high defenses and the ability to continually stun-lock targets.
For defending, you have "Capacity Knight" as your main ability for protecting others, and then "Blade Training" and "Shield Wall" to drastically increase your own defenses while you're taking those hits in place of your party. You can also use "Stoicism" to increase your own and allies' resistances to attacks and negative effects.
In its own category of causing daze effects (which can be both a defensive or offensive option), you also have numerous abilities. "Grim Defense" is your most powerful effect as, unique only to Royal Guard, it enables you to "stack" turns of daze on a target, meaning that you can almost permanently stun-lock them. Otherwise, "Shield Slam" gives you a direct attack that causes daze, "Harbinger" gives you a chance to daze and increase your own hit chance, "Counter-Slam" gives you a chance to daze nearby enemies when they attack you, and "Flurry" gives you a chance to daze anyone who you attack.
Lastly, "Arc" gives you a way to attack multiple nearby enemies, making use of your various defensive and daze-causing effects against as many targets as possible at a time.
Royal Guard Lore
The “cratered” land before the mouth of the mountain had blossomed into a wild growth of plains vegetation. A heavy rainfall began just as the heroes reached a brilliant field of vibrantly red roses.
In the beautiful scene stood, however, melancholy figures, drenched to the bone in their royal stoneborn garb. Torgen Stonebolt, king of the mountain halls of the stoneborn clans, and his small entourage of royal guards, had traveled a great distance for the king to ask the heroes one favor: “I beseech you, do not kill my brother.”
According to the king, the legendary weapon “Parthena” which Kleitengraas had so zealously sought for its fabled powers, was known as one of the faces of the devil.
“The blade is cursed, and so is my brother. Destroy Parthena, and you free him. The taking of lives is not necessary today my friends.”
